chess

W joined the chess club this year.  I can't believe how much he has learned over the school year.  They meet once a week before school and it can be difficult to concentrate with a bunch of kids running around (not everyone is there to play chess).

He just competed in his first chess tournament earlier this week.
He played 5 games (against 1st, 2nd & 3rd graders) in 2 days.  He loved it.  Can't wait for next year!

peeps

With Peeps cupcakes awaiting, the kids ate up all of their dinner last night.
They were pretty stoked.

Since there were three different colors of peeps, Z thought he was going to get one of each.

computer whiz

Zeph is a big fan of technology already.  Here he is "working" on G-ma's computer.

sledding

We did a little sledding over the weekend.
The track has been getting a lot of use, so it's fast!  The kids had a blast.

gleaming the cube

W has been working on his skateboarding skills this winter.  He took a class at Woodward this winter.  It was a bit intimidating as he was the youngest in the class.  But it has spiked his interest and he will be taking a couple of camps this summer.  Can't wait to see him shred!

W at Woodward.

W working the skate park in Castle Rock.
He got a little frustrated, but we are working with him to stick with it.

taekwondo

Along with starting kindergarten this year, W also tried out many new activities during the school year - Chess, Taekwondo, Kooking Class, Mad Science & Soccer.  He really like Taekwondo.
C and I felt there were too many kids to get quality instruction (and it's not cheap).
We will see if he is still interested next year.

Here are some fun videos of W doing Taekwondo.

spaceship

Thanks to Amazon, the kids were able to play with this sweet spaceship.
The kids had a blast for about 3 days, then the spaceship had to take off to the recycle center.

The kids did a great job coloring the spaceship.

I had to make window shades do to the amount of "monadoes" (Zeph's way of saying tornadoes) the spaceship was encountering.
